Board of Trustees Vacancy

The Caney City Library is seeking applications for one open seat on the Library Board of Trustees. This volunteer position plays an important role in shaping library services, supporting community access to information, and helping guide the long‑term vision of the library.

Eligibility Requirement: Applicants must reside within the boundaries of Kansas USD 436 School District.

Ideal candidates are community‑minded individuals who value literacy, public service, and the role of a rural library as a hub for learning, connection, and opportunity. Experience in areas such as education, finance, community outreach, policy, fundraising, or nonprofit leadership is helpful but not required.

Board Responsibilities Include:

  • Attending monthly board meetings
  • Participating in occasional special meetings or committee work
  • Helping oversee library policies, planning, and budgeting
  • Supporting library programs, services, and community engagement
  • Serving as an advocate for the library within the community
