Friends of the Library Group

The Can-Kan Dreambuilders has now become Can-Kan, Friends of the Library group. Since our “dream” of a new library has been built, the group will now focus on support for the Library rather than building.

The three ladies responsible for starting the Dreambuilders, Joan Gordon, Joyce McDaniel, and Sharon Wiggins have retired from their official duties, and are regular members. We miss them, appreciate all the work they did to make this dream a reality, and hope they are enjoying life “on the outside” after more than 10 years of fundraising.

The new FOL group will still be fundraising to support the library in areas of new equipment, help with programming, purchasing books, not in our budget, as well as extra hands (or cookies!) for our programs.

Can-Kan meetings are on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 pm. and everyone is encouraged to attend.

Annual Membership Dues are as follows:

Student $ 1.00
Seniors (60yr +) 2.00
Individuals 5.00
Family 10.00
Patron 25.00 or more
Business 50.00 or more

The Friends of the Library encourages gifts and donations, which are an important source of additional revenue. They are a meaningful way for patrons to support the Library and its role in the community.

Make a bequest, establish a trust fund, send a check or give cash.

Donating Material to the Library

Donations offer the opportunity to fill gaps in the collection, to replace material in poor condition due to high usage, and to expand collecting into areas of high demand or emerging public interest. If we are unable to utilize a donation in our collection, we ask for permission to add it to our stock of used books to be sold in our annual book sale.

Our Annual September Book Sale would not be possible without your support. Proceeds from the sale of donations benefit the Caney City Library.

The Library is grateful to anyone who wishes to donate material however, a few restrictions are necessary.
