After nearly 10 years of bake sales, pancake dinners and more, the new library opened in 2016. The Can-Kan Dreambuilders became the Can-Kan Friends of the Library, changing the mission of the group to supporting the library. They have provided snacks for programs, volunteered at the library and held fundraisers for library needs.
The Can-Kan Friends of the Library has accomplished many fundraisers. The biggest fundraiser is the Little Miss and Mr. Christmas contest that is held annually. Donations for the library go towards a child in the contest and the girl and boy that collects the most wins the title of Little Miss and Mr. Christmas.
With recent donations, Can-Kan has contributed to matching grants for the following: large print books, furnishings and new computers.
They also help the library purchase Halloween books and popcorn that are given out during Trick or Treat the Library, along with providing the snacks for Summer Reading.
If you are interested in joining the Can-Kan Friends of the Library, applications are available at the library.
